Last night I went on my third hunt of the season and I was on doe patrol. While sitting in my truck I watch four doe come out on the field and I thought my evening was toast. Anyway I got dressed and headed into stand. I didnt bump anything going in so I quickly got set up and waited for the party to begin. About 5:30 I saw movement, it was a couple little bucks. They fed around for a while and then finally I had a large doe move in. I watched her as she fed into range, and a nice little 6pt in full velvet followed her. I had both deer in front of me at 15yds and as I was getting ready to draw I had another little buck come in behind me so I had to wait. I watched him as he fed through and as he went behind the brush I verfied the other two deer were still unaware of my presence. All was good so I drew my bow, place the pin on the sweet spot of that doe, and let her have it. I saw the arrow smash into her and as she ran off I knew my hit was true. This all happened so fast the little 6pt had no idea and just stood there watching her. He then slowly walked off after the disturbance and took the other little buck with him. When it was all clear I got down and verfied what I saw as I recoved my blood soaked arrow and then my doe a near 40 yards away. What a great evening to harvest a doe, and I also got to see some of my up and coming young bucks. This doe was my 3rd of the year in 3 hunts. The year is really starting off right. I truely hope everyone else is having just as good a time as I have so far in the woods. Happy hunting and please share your stories. Peace.
